Youth Report 2008

Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.' Matthew 28:16-20
Youth discipleship should be understood as a commitment to walk alongside young people, long-term, whether Christians or not. This is why the vision has three areas:
1. Engagement: Being in the community living the LIFE 2. Evangelism: Helping young people discover Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the LIFE 3. Encourage: Helping young people to grow in the LIFE Jesus offers
Therefore, we run a range of events such as...

Scorpion football is a fun, fast-paced, 3-a-side version of the game that promotes teamwork and skill. Each match is 3 v 3 with just one goal deciding the winner and the winning team stays on until they are beaten. Teams are assigned on the day so you can just turn up by yourself and play. The junior session of Scorpion football (for 7-11 year olds) takes place on Wednesday afternoons during term time at St. Andrew’s school.

THE GAP is a club to support those who are either side of the gap between primary and secondary school. It meets every other Monday and it’s for anyone aged 11-14 years old. The aim will be to look at what Christianity is all about. We’ll use music, films and other media to see what other people say about it. We’ll use the bible to see what it says. And we’ll be asking what we think about Christianity and what that means to us.

Starchasers is our parish wide Sunday morning club for 6-11 year olds. Our aim is to tell the children about God in a creative & engaging manner - and to have a lot of fun too. Each session features a range of activities including games, crafts, bible stories, creative prayer and small group time. And at the end of each term we award prizes for the kids who’ve earned the most stars. We meet on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of each month in St. Andrew’s School and each session runs from 10.45am to 12.15pm.
